For this week's homework, you will write a review of The Outsiders.
A book review is a genre that involves some summary and some critique. You may discuss aspects of the plot, the characters, the conflict, the setting that were positive and contributed to the book, or aspects of those elements that were negative and detracted from the book.
I will expect your book review to be detailed, thoughtful, and specific. I will expect that you use formal English and elevated vocabulary.
Some examples of book reviews (good and not so good) can be found here:

the outsiders is a great book filled with action and drama.the main character is ponyboy.he is in a gang called the greacers.theyre enemy the socs are rich and hate the greacers.ponyboy wants to be friends but that nevers happens.
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders is also a very good book. It is about two gangs that have rumbles and stuff like that. Something goes bad before the rumble. Pony and Johnny kill a soc and then they runaway come back after saving some kids from a burning building then BAM Johnny is in the hospital. Messed up right but then he dies like what a week or two later then Dally kills himself basically by robbing a store and pulling a gun on cops. Then Soda has a breakdown and pony and Dally aid him. Thats basically it oh and some socs come to their senses after one dies.
ReplyDeleteThe Oustsiders is a very deep and very detailed book. The main character and the narrator of the book is Ponyboy,a "Greaser", The two gangs the Greasers and the Socs have been fighting for no real reason btu the social classes and the side of town they belong to. One thing I really like about this book is the way the author narrates the book. The author makes you really feel like a Greaser is talking to you. The author uses the same dialogue as Ponyboy would most likely use if he were a real person. One thing I dislike (doesnt really make the book bad, it actually makes it better but...)are the deaths of both Dally and Johnny. All in all The Outsiders was oine of the best books I have ever read and I would read it again. I highly recommend this book.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very good book filled with tension. The protagonist of this story is Ponyboy. He is part of a gang called the Greasers. This book has fighting and violence. The Socs are another gang that the Greasers have to deal with. One conflict that Ponyboy has to deal with is finding his relationship with his older brother Darry. Ponyboy doesn't think Darry really loves him. Late at night Ponyboy and Johnny (a Greaser) get into a fight with the Socs. Then Johnny ends up killing one of the Socs'. So he and Ponyboy run away. Their journey changes their lives. One day a church caught on fire and there were children inside the church so Johnny, Ponyboy and Dally (also a member of the Greasers) rescue the children. Johnny and Dally end up in the hospital. While Ponyboy is there too, he realizes that Darry does love him and cares so much about him. Until the Greasers have a fight with the Socs. Then the Greasers win. But Johnny and Dally die. This really changes Ponyboy's point of view. This book is a really great book and has a meaning to it. I recommend this book because it takes you on an amazing journey about Ponyboy's life. It's really a heartwarming story in the end.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very great and emotional book. It has action romance and comedy. But the main character is Ponyboy. The have a gang called The Greasers. They always are fighting with another gang called The Socs. Ponyboy bestfriend Johhnny was badly burned from a church fire. He dies in the hospital. Dally one member of the gang was also killed but he was shot in the end. I think that this bookn was amazing and if I have to I would read it again.

The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton. The intriguing book is about a teenage boy, Ponyboy who is involved with a gang called the greasers. This book is very realistic and tells a story about the life of a “Greaser” in that time period. In the book Ponyboy and his friends Dally, two-bit, Steve and Johnny get into quite a bit of trouble together. Whether they are in a rumble with the Socs or smoking cigarettes on the side walk trying to look tuff . The Outsiders is a book that will have you gasping from shock. Making your stomach turn from the strong details of something nasty. And have you wishing that what happened didn’t happen. It is a book of friends sticking together no matter what. After reading The Outsiders you will truly understand how close a bond of boys can really be.
ReplyDeleteThe ousiders was a very confusing book for me with all the different characters and how each character was important to the plot. But i also think The Outsider in the end was a very good book once I got was thinking about the novel
ReplyDeleteand all the information went through my head and it just clicked.
The Outsiders is a book about hardship and love. The main character is Ponyboy who is a greaser, or what we would call the poor kids. There are two gangs the greasers and the socs the greasers are very poor and live in a poor community, and the socs are the rich kid who live in a richer community. These two gangs are truely the opposite, and get into several fights, and in one fight one of the Socs die because Johnny kills him because a group of Socs gang up on Johnny and Ponyboy. This make Johnny and Ponyboy run away from the cops and runaway from home and leave all thier friends behind them. This put all the greasers and even the Socs in trouble and thier world turns upside down. This is a turn pager that you don't know what happens until the last page of the book.
I did like this book a lot. But what I disliked about this book was how many characters were in the book the wierd namesof all the character. It was very confusing in the beginning of the book. But besides that the book was great. Ths book I would recommend to anyone who loves a turn pager.
-Samantha Carter-
The Outsiders starts out with a fourteen-year old boy, Ponyboy Curtis, a "Greaser" like the rest of his friends, raised and beaten into submission, jailed, and even killed by upper class snobs called "Socs" (Short for socials). At the begining of the story, Ponyboy gets jumped by a gang of Socs, later to be chased off by his older brothers, Sodapop and Darry. Ponyboy is brought back to his gang, where Dally, a ruffian with an extensive police record, explains that he is going to a drive-in movie later and wants Ponyboy and Johnny to join him. They follow, with Two-Bit, the gang's clown, tagging along. At the movie, the boys meet two girls, Cherry and Marcia. Dally tries to flirt with them, Ponyboy and Johnny urging him to leave them alone. Ponyboy and Johnny get caught trying to bring the two girls home by their boyfriends, who, ironically enough, get drunk in later chapters and try to kill Johnny and Ponyboy. Johnny stabs Bob, the lead Soc, so him and Ponyboy go to Dally for help. He gives them money and a gun and sends them off to live in a church. Later, Ponyboy and Johnny go with Dally to have lunch, and when they return, the church is on fire, with small children trapped inside. Ponyboy and Johnny quickly jump to the rescue, But Johnny didn't get out fast enough. He suffered from a broken back. Ponyboy, Sodapop, Steve, Two-Bit, and Darry go to a rumble, where Dally suddenly arrives. He and Ponyboy go to visit Johnny afterwards, but in minutes, Johnny dies, telling Ponyboy to "Stay Golden". Right after Johnny's death, Dally raises a gun to the cops, who open fire on him and kill him. After this, Ponyboy and his brothers go to court and straighten everything out. But since Ponyboy is falling behind in english, so he writes a theme about all of the events that had taken place inside of this novel.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is an engaging, heartbreaking novel that will make you want more. S.E. Hinton has made a masterpiece that will not be denied, so with that said, I would recommend The Outsiders to anyone and everyone.
<(^-^<) Whoop! I'm done! THAT took me forty-five minutes... ^ _ ^
Stay Golden, Take a hit, and ride a broomstick (LOL HARRY POTTER!!!)

The Outsiders is a novel by S.E. Hinton. This novel is about Ponyboy Curtis who is a "Greaser." This novel is very realistic and takes place in the past in the 1950's. In the beginning of the novel Ponyboy gets jumped by a "Soc" who drives a blue mustang. The mustang comes up alot in the novel. One night Ponyboy storms out of his house and runs away with Johnny. They both get jumped by the same boy who jumped Ponyboy. You would never think that Johnny would do such a thing. Johnny had stabbed and killed Bob for trying to drown Ponyboy. This shows you that Johnny will do anything for Ponyboy. Right after both Ponyboy and Johnny run away to go see Dally. Once Dally talks to them, he tells Ponyboy and Johnny to run away to Texas. Dally had given them money to have food and a gun to protect themselves. Dally had told them to live in an abandoned church for now. When they get used of living in a church something terrible happens. The church goes on fire and there is children that wondered off from their group in the fire. Johnny being risky goes to save the kids and Ponyboy. After he got all of them out he jumped out the window and the church had blown up and turned to pieces. Johnny and Dally had third-degree burns. Also Johnny had a serve broken back and could not walk again. After a while in the hospital Johnny dies and Dally went to go be with him. Dally had got shot by the cops because he robbed a store and he knew that if he aimed at the cops, he would have been shot by the cops. After all of that dying Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry go to court to straighten everything out. All of these events were made into a theme by Ponyboy because he was not doing good in English.
ReplyDeleteTo me I really liked this book it was very interesting. One thing that I did not like was that it didn't have an epilogue. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action and adventure.
The book the Outsiders is about some teenagers involved in gangs. The poorer gang is called the greasers and the rich gang is called the socs.In the book the main character and narrator is Ponyboy a brother of three whos parents died in a car crash.Ponyboys best friend is Johhny who as well is in the gang. One day while furios at his brother Ponyboy leaves to an empty alley where Johhny also was.A blue mustang pulls up and five socs come out. They start to drowned pony and not knowing what to do Johhny pulls out his switchblade and kills Bob the leader of the socs.Johhny and Pony have to hide at an abondend church with 50 dollars and a gun.Dally there gang leader shows up about a week later to pick them up that they were safe. They go to a nearby restaurant and as they pass the church for there final time they see it up in flames and a crowd around. THey get off and when they approach the church they have been told that there were children inside. Being heros they go in and rescue the kids.Pony ggets out safely but as Johnny starts to get out the church begins to fall and he is hit in the back with a huge piece of wood.At the hospital About two weeks after the deathg of Bob,Johhny dies. They were all in shock back at the house.Later they get a call from Dally that the police was after him because he had robbed a store. THey would wait for him at the alley .WHen they get there they see dally running with the police behind him.THe policmen takes ouit his guna and before dally hits the floor he is dead. All of this was hard on everyone,Especially Ponyboy who had lost two loved ones.Being in gangs will hurt you and youre loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThe book The Outsiders is about two gangs. The two gangs are called the Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are the rich, upper class of the city while the Greasers are the poor, lower class. The Greasers got their nickname because their hair always appears greasy. The plot involves the physical and mental journey of the war between these two gangs. The war gets more involved when protagonist Ponyboy, Two-Bit, and Dally from the Greasers, hang out with Cherry and other Socs girls. Also, when protagonist Ponyboy and Johnny commit a murder, this causes them to be on the run from the cops and the Socs. They find an old church and start what they think to be their new life. The physical and mental journey the Socs and the Greasers have in this war lead to many deaths, but also new friendships. This book really gives you the feeling of what it's like to be on the outside.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good story. I think this because right from the start you feel empathy for not only Ponyboy but all of the Greasers. You see how the Socs are treating them, and get right into the action. Also, the book only gets better. If you like fast moving, sad, adventure stories, then this book is right for you!
the novel the outsiders was a good book i liked it better than the pigman.the book was about a bunch of kids in a gang called the greaser. and there emeny is the socs.and jonny killed one of the socs members and jonny ponyboy ran away from town so they wont go to jail.and they liked in a abanded church. one dry day they came back to the church and the chruch was on fire and there where kids inside the church and jonny went inside and saved all of the kids and part of the church fell on jonny and broke his back and he got 3rd degree burn and he was in the hospital and they kept visiting him in the hostipal.then they had a rumble but jonny did go he was way hurt to fight so he had to stay in the hopital and they won. then later on at the end jonny dies and then two-bits jonnys best friend went and robed a store and then the cops came and surrounded jonny and he called sodapop and everyone else and the found him surrounded and then he pulled out a unloadeed gun and the cops just opened fire and two-bits died just to be with jonny. then half of the who gang was dead.then at the way end it was all a essay from a little girl.
ReplyDeleteThe book of the outsiders was awsome. I loved all of the fights and the drama. The main charicter ponyboy was the best charecter in the book. In the beging of the book ponyboy is on his way homw from the movie theater and he is jumped by the soxs. But his brother comes and saves him from them.In the end him and this friand jonny ran away after killing one of the soxs. But the church got cought on fire on jonny got hurt and dies.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a book about Socs and Greasers. The Socs and Greasers are gangs that battle against each other. The Greasers have a very different life style than the Socs. The Greasers are less fortunate than the Socs. The Socs have blue mustangs, money, a good home to live in; the Greasers on the other hand have not a lot of money, not the best cars, and have a good home to live in but not that nice. I would review "The Outsiders" as a novel with different emotions. "The Outsiders" is a very intense book with a lot of meaning in it.-Mychala Conti(:
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders is a great book and I thought that Ponyboy was the best character not because he was the narrator but because of his personality. Ponyboy and John have a lot in common. They both like to drink and are very wild. They both are individual and dont want to end up with everyone elses dream but with thier own. Just like how Darry is always on Ponyboys case about everything Johns dad is always on his case. I thought that Ponyboy showed a side of him that was strong but weak as well after Johnny passed away. I think when Johnny passed though things got interesting Ponyboy was taken by it and tried to be strong for Johnny though lots of tension built up in him.
ReplyDeleteThe book outsiders was a book about ponyboy and johny running away from home because johny killed someone. In the book I could see everything in mind mind as a visual picture because it was very detailed But was boring at times.I would definetly read it again.
ReplyDeleteThe novel The Outsiders is a very good book. As soon as you think that nothing worse could happen, it goes and happens. There are two gangs in this book, the Socs and the Greasers. They are constantly fighting amongst themselves the whole time. The protagonist Ponyboy is not like a regular Greaser, he likes watching sunsets and thinks everyone should get along. I think Ponyboy is very advanced for his time because this book was based on a long time ago and now we don't have Socs and Greasers. This story is filled with sad storys along with happy times. If you're reading this book look foward to a suprise at the end. I think this book is an extraordinary book and it is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders was an axtonishing book and the character I felt to have had a big part as well was Dally. Dally was strong and so everyone thought but like everyone else loosing Johnny hit hard. Dally was close to Johnny but when he found out that Johnny was gone apart of him left with him even though he didn't say so. When Dally robbed the store I knew it was his reaction to what happened to Johnny. And you can tell that he wanted to die when he had the police shoot him multiple times. It was sad and painful for the others to see and was alot to take in because they were steal going through what had happened to Jonny now that Dally is gone they have twice the amount of pain and that is something unforgetable.
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders was an exellent book. I can connect to how the Greasers were feeling when they lost Johnny because when I lost my dad I was crushed and thought my whole world had come down all at once and thats how they felt. They felt that something good had gone bad and what seemed to be the best thing in the world was the worst. When you loose someone in your family or that your close to it hurts and its as if you've lost yourself so I know exactly how they feel and that is why the book clicked to me the way it did.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a novel that you would never want to put down. It has both action and drama. The main character is Ponyboy. He is in a gang with his two brothers, Soda and Darry and their other friends (Two-Bit, Steve, Dally, & Johnny). They call themselve Greasers and so do other people. They are called that because they use a lot of hair grease. The gang's mortal enemies are the Socs. The Greasers hate them because they are rich, snotty, mean, pretty much always drink, always looking for fights when they are drunk, and especially because they jump Greasers. The gang has their ups and downs, like when the Socs jumped Johnny and almost killed him. They also have happy times, like when Ponyboy and Johnny save kids from a burning church. If you had to pick a book to read, I would recommend this book. You will always want to read it. You always want to know what will happen next.
ReplyDelete-Nicole Pieta :]
I thought The Outsiders was boring because it didn’t interests me. It didn’t interests me because I didn’t really like the story it just wasn’t exciting or anything really new all that happened at all it was mostly about Ponyboy his brothers, greasers vs. socs, and the only thing different that happened was the church on fire and a few of Ponyboy’s friends died. The characters didn’t really do anything new either, but there were some little changes like Darry being nice to for once, Johnny was ding, dally was still the same, Ponyboy changed a little bit near the end. For some people who like good stories and plot but if you’re like me who always want something new mostly happening constantly then read a different book.
ReplyDeleteThe story the Outsiders is about two gansg called the Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are the upper class people and the Greasers are the lower class people. They get caught up with the Socs because they are talking to their girlfriends...Then one day when they are in the park the Socs are drucnk and they come and start messing with Pony Boy and Johnny. Then Johnny commits murder.Dally gives them a loaded gun and they live in a abandoned church. There they start their new life. The story leads to death. but the book gets better. It all ends with friendship, family, and being their for eachother.
ReplyDeleteThe novel The Outsiders is about a 14 year old boy named Ponyboy with no parents and his only family are his brothers. Darry and Soda. Ponyboy is known as a "Greaser". As well as his two brothers. A gang that the Greasers are tyhe Socs. Socs live on the good side of town, but are the bad kids. While Pony was in the park with Johnny (his best friend) five drunk Socs with Bob driving the blue Mustang all jumped the two of them. Bob started to drown Ponyboy in the fountain. Pony got knocked out. When he woke up Bob was dead and Johnny was the one who killed him. After the death of Bob, Johnny and Pony ranaway to an old abandond barn. After Johnny and Pony came back from eating with Dally they saw that the church was on fire. Al of them started sprinting to the churhc. All of them started to hear screaming from the church. From then they knew that there are kids in the church. Pony went in first the Johnny. Dally stayed by a window so he was able to catch the kids out of the window. After getting all of the kids out of the fire Pony and Johnny tried to get out aswell. While trying to get out of the church a something collapsed and almost hit Ponyboy, but Johnny jumped in front of Pony so it wouldn't hit him. Johnny was sent to the hospital. Ba ck in their home town there was going to be a big rumble between the Greaser and the Socs. At the rumble it was an all out fight between these two gangs. During the rumble Dally showed up from the hospita to fight. The Greasers won the rumble. Only because somebody used a bar during the fight. After the rumble all of the guys went to the hospital to tell Johnny the news, but when they got there Johnny was dying. While in the room with Johhny he told Pony to stay gold like in the book GONE WITH THE WIND. The book that Johnny bought for Pony while they were living in the church. Right there Johnny died. Everybody was sad. When all of the guys left the roomm anurse gave Ponyboy the book GONE WITH THE WIND and said that Johnny told her to give it to Pony when he died so he could finish the book. When all of them got back home Pony had a fever. For the past cople days his fver was getting worse and worse. While Pony had his fever Dally went and robbed a grocery store. WHen all of the guys saw Dally under the street light he was surrounded by cops. As soon as the guys got there the cops started shooting. one of the shots hit Dally and killed him. Right there Pony Fainted from his fever. When he woke up he was in his room. During those couple of days he had the fever Pony kept sayin that Johnny wasn't dead and that he killed Bob. Pony dind't go sane again until he talked to Randy, Bobs best freind. After the talk that they had with eachother they became good friends.
ReplyDeleteThe novel The Outsiders is a very detailed and interesting book. There is a narrator, Ponyboy, who is a greaser. Then, there is another gang called the Socs. The Socs and The Greasers have had a rivalry going between them for no reason except that they're are different social classes. During the book, there is many dificulties that Ponyboy and the Greasers experience. Ponyboy and the gang go threw a time of loss of friends, disagreement with the Socs and much more. This is an action packed book and makes you not want to put it down. This would definitly be a book that I would recomend to anyone.
ReplyDeletethe outsiders is the best book i have read in a wile. this book is a drama and action filled book. with a gang of boys (dally darry ponyboy two bits steavin) it has fights death.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very great book. The main character Ponyboy is in a gang called the Greasers and always has conflicts with the Socs. The Socs. always cause trouble and want violence. The Greasers are a nice gang, the Socs. on the other hand are not. They are always causing trouble. It is a very good book and is sad, exciting, and adventureous. The author makes it very detailed and it was hard for me to put it down after every reading session. The book was so detailed it made you feel like you were experiencing the whole book. It was a really amazing book!
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a really good book about life. The book shows how you have to cherrish everymoment with the people you care for. It also shows how good things can go wrong in a momemnts notice. This book tells and shows what a kid name Ponyboy has to go through at such a young age. The is also good book because the author usses specific details on what Ponyboy and his friends do. This is not just another book of live and boring niss this book is fun and exciting at the same time and it is a good book for young aldults.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very good novel by S.E. Hinton. It brings in family, murder, gangs, and nice cars. The main plot is that Ponyboy and Johnny kill a Soc and run away where they both get hurt in a fire. Some of the characters are Ponyboy who is a greaser but doesn't really fit in. Another character is Johnny who is also a greaser and is a murderer who keeps the gang together. Sodapop is Poyboys brother who can bring a smile to anyones face. The book takes place a whil ago in a rural area. An aspect that were positive to the book was when the greasers won the rumble with Johnny in the hospital. A negative aspect of the book was when Johnny was dead and then Dally pulled out an unloaded gun to get the police to kill him.
ReplyDeletethe book the outsiders by s.e Hinton is a great story. it is full of heartfelt memories. this book is about a boy named ponyboy and his life inst that perfect. he smokes and is involved in gangs also fights. His brother darry is always on his back about school work and ponyboy is sick of it. so he runs away and then gets caught up in a fire which ends p to be the end of his best friends life. how is ponyboy going to survive the loss of his best friend? and when the gang leader gets shot know one knows were or who to turn to. but as long ponyboy has his brother sodapop to turn to ... everything might just finally turn out right .
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is about two gangs who flourish during the 1960's: the Greasers and the Socs(short for Socials). The Greasers live the hard life. They reside in the bad side of town where everyone is poor, rough, and where nobody abides by the law. The Socs are the exact opposite. They have huge homes, nice cars, and have everything they could ever want. Unfortunately, the Socs like to get into fights with Greasers. The main conflict occurs when the protagonists, Ponyboy and Johnny, get jumped by a group of Socs. In an effort to protect themselves, Johnny ends up killing one of the Socs. The two are forced to run away. With the help of Dally, who supplied them with money, a gun, and a place to hide, the two set off to an abandoned church. Ponyboy and Johnny try to predict the rest of their lives, which they believe will be wasting away in an old church. That is not what happens. In the end, Ponyboy realizes that Socs are not much different from Greasers. It all comes down to who you are as an individual person, not where you live or who you hang out with.
ReplyDeleteWhat I really love about this book is that the story is intense and fast paced from page one. The reader is introduced to everyone within a couple of pages and can already feel him/herself growing attatched to each character. The author also has a very informal style of writing. S.E.Hinton wrote this story as though he was sitting down and telling it to you. This writing gives you a strong perspective of Ponyboy's point of view on the story. This action packed story is also very emotional. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fast, heartbreaking stories.
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is an action-packed and entertaining novel. The Socs are a mean gang of rich kids who enjoy beating up Greasers like the protagonist, Ponyboy. Ponyboy lives with his brohters, Soda and Darry, because his parentas were killed in a car crash.
ReplyDeleteThe action in the book starts when Ponyboy goes to a movie with some of his friends including Johnny, who is shy and scared partly because of being abused by his parents, and Dally, a tough delinquent who has lived on the streets. they end up meeting 2 Soc girls and driving the home. Later, after Ponyboy leaves the house after a fight with his brother, him and Johnny are jumped by a group of Socs (who are also the girls boyfriends) who try to kill them. Johnny ends up killing one of the boys. Dally advises them to run away to an old church. Soon DAlly eets them there and Ponyboy and Johnny become heroes for rescuing some little kids who are inside the church when it is burning down, and Dally rescues Johnny who gets badly hurt.
When Ponyboy gets home, his brothers forgive him. But Juhnny and Dally are in the hospital, and ponyboy is very tired. But Ponyboy still wants to go to the rumble, a huge fight between the Socs and Greasers, and he ends up hurt. Later, Johnny dies then Dally raises a gun to cops so they will shoot him. Dally couldn,t deal with Johnny's death. Johnny was the only thing he ever loved.. All this is to much for Ponyboy. He gets very sick and has high fevers and goes crazy. When he recovers, Ponyboy learns to cope with the loss of his friends.
This story is all about finding who you really are and I would recommened this to anyone who likes action stories.
The Outsiders involves two groups. The greasers and the socs. The greasers are a poor gang that only have eachother because most of their parents are not involved in their lives. In contrast the socs are wealthy and come from privileged families. Throughout the story there are many action packed fights and very little romance which I like. Drinking, smoking, committing violent acts, and stealing are what give the greasers thier bad reputation. The socs are similar but they dont steal because they dont need money. The author S.E Hinton did a good job of portraying the greasers lifestyle but I feel he did not give enough insight as to why the socs were always picking fights. Overall the book was at a fast pace and made me want to keep reading. I especially liked the ending beause the story was relayed through one of the main character's eyes. That main character was Ponyboy from the greasers.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is about two street gang named the Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are a upper class more richer gang while the Greasers are the more lower class and poor gang. The Outsiders is a action-packed thrill ride thats full of drama and will leave u at the edge of your seat.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a great thrilling book. It involved two different groups of people. The greasers and the socs. The socs are a rich gang who think their better than everyone else. The greasers are a poor gang who depend on themselves because their parents aren’t involved in their life’s. Throughout the book the greasers and socs fight to prove who’s better. The main character was Ponyboy. I liked how S.E Hinton had the greasers be so close with each other. Something I didn’t like was S.E Hinton had Ponyboy not believe that Jonny died. Overall the book was very good and interesting it made me want to read more.
ReplyDelete-Kaitlyn Berry
The novel "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton is a outstanding book. The main character, "Ponyboy", is a strong person. He belives in alot of things and respects his brothers and friends. Ponyboy is a Greacer and the Greacers dislike the Socs. The thing I like about this book is that it makes it interesting when all the drama happens with the fighting because it gets you so much into the book you don't want to stop. The thing I don't like about the book is that it was depressing because Ponyboy and Dally dies. I don't like books that are depressing so I would not recommend this book or read it again.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders S.E Hinton is an "Whats gonna happen next!" type of book. Its filled with action, emotion, and devistation. Its mainly about 3 brothers Ponyboy, Soda, and Darry who are "Greasers" which are the lower class. Their parents died and are trying to get through everything on their own. They are in a Gang, and not the brightest kids. The "Socs" which are the lower class and do NOT like the Greasers. They dont get along what so ever, and like to beat them up out of random. The Greasers are tired of it, and finally one of them "Johnny" does something about it. As Ponyboy the main character is getting drowned boy a Soc named Bob, Johnny kills him with a pocket knife. By the time the Soc Bob is dead Johnny and Ponboy leave the area and run home. Darry then gives them 50 dollars and a gun to run to the church on top of a hill in the City and stay there until everything is clear. When they are there they cut off their hair and Ponyboy bleaces his. After a week, something terrible happens. When they are away from the church for a little bit, they hear children screaming. When they go see what happened they see it on fire and when they ask whats wrong they are told children are in the fired building. ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very serious book. Two gangs from New York called the Greasers and the Socs are against each other. The Greasers are not wealthy like the Socs. Ponyboy from the Greasers just hangs around with the gang. He is not that important to the other members. The Socs like to fool around with the Greasers and the Greasers really hates it. The two gangs are different but they are also alike. This book was very emotional at the end since Johnny risked his life saving the kids at the church and he ended up in a hospital with very little time to live.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a great book about friendship and harship. in The Outsiders there were two gangs. The Socs and the Greasers. The socs were a rich high classy gang and the Greasers were a low class kinda poor gang. The greasers are known for their long greasy hair. The main conflict in the book is oviouis;y between the two gangs but mainly when John and Ponyboy commit a murder. John and Ponyboy ran away from the cops and everone els to avoid getting in trouble. They found an old bonded church where there they cut their hair off and bleached it. There in the church Johnny and the Ponyboy(protagonist) relized what it's like to be by yourself, on the outside, and living alone.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great book if you are looking for a great adventure book with action on everypage and it's fast paced. This bookis right for you if you are looking for a fast, sad and advunture book.
The Outsiders is a very good, fun, and sad book. In the Outsiders their is two groups the socs and the greasers. Ponyboy had a very hard life for example his parents died and now he only has his two brother's Sodapop and Darry. Ponyboy does have his gang the greasers to help him get through his trouble. Jonny who is Ponyboys bestfiend is a hero just like Ponyboy because they went into a burning church and saved little kid's lives. The bad part about taking that risk was that Jonny died after a couple of weeks of being in the hospital. You wouldn't even know how much this put a downer on Ponyboy he would tell people that Jonny was alive because he wanted him to still be alive. Even though Ponyboy had a hard life he can always count on his brother Sodapop because they love each other very much.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a very good book, this story is a war between lower class Greasers, and the upper class Soc’s. This book brings the reader to a boy who does that right thing, but because of this troubling war between the two gangs, brings him into trouble. Through out the book you experience a series of emotions. When Ponyboy and his friend Johnny are in the wrong place at the wrong time; the upper class Soc’s try to drown Ponyboy, but before they do, Johnny’s reaction leave’s Ponyboy a live and a boy dead. When the two boys go to one of their friend Dally in the gang for help, they find themselves in the country hiding far from home; in an abandoned church. Ponyboy find’s he missing home and his brothers, one unexpected afternoon changes ever thing, Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny find themselves running into the burning church to save kids. Though the saved the kids, it didn’t all work out. The fire leave’s Johnny dieing on a hospital bed, while Ponyboy and the rest of the gang prepare for a huge fight between the two gangs, this fight was for Johnny. After the rumble Dally and Ponyboy go to visit Johnny to tell them they won the rumble, but Ponyboy and Dally find Johnny dieing and a few minutes late he’s dead. This leave’s Ponyboy upset and sick for a few weeks, and Dally killing himself.
ReplyDeleteThis book has the reader turning the pages. The author put a lot of emotions in the book, it was like you were there watching what happened, and gave a lot of details. Though in the beginning of the book you can get confused that Darry is Ponyboy’s brother and Dally is a friend. This book what a great to read, and like the Pigman it could teach the reader an important lesson that things happen but we have to move on and can’t change the pass.
The outsiders is a novel about a gang in New York cite and what they have to deal with like the socs. they are a group of rich kids who constantly trying to beat up the greasers who is the gang and ponyboy who is in the gang with his brothers almost got beat up by the socs and then later his best friend Johnny killed a soc and then they went on the run they cut there hair and ponyboy bleached his hair and made it blonde and then they were picked up by another greaser who is called dally and he dove them back to the citie and the there was a rumble an the greasers won but dally shot him self and johnny died because of bad smoke damage from a fire.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders was a great book. It had good tension then anyother book I read. The Socs was a group of rich kids that didn't like the greasers. The greasers was a group of poor kids that stuck together all times. This kid named Ponyboy was a greaser. Ponyboy didn't like to fight. He liked to read nd walk home alone from the drive-in. Ponyboy was greaser with his brother and close friends. One day his bestfriend Jonny was getting jump by the Socs. Ponyboy ened getting to just by helping out his friend. Then into the middle of the story a church on fire and Ponyboy and his went oand saved the people. The person that got hurt the most was johnny. He had burns marks and was paralyzed from waist down. Johnny ened up dying from the burns and paralyzation. Then Dally raised the gun to the cops and they shoot him. The was a great book to read.
ReplyDeleteI think that The Outsiders was a really good book. I think this because the story seemed almost real. I was able to visualize the story as I was reading it. Another reason I liked the book is because of the ending. For example, when Ponyboy starts the story, he finishes it with the same exact words. Overall, The Outsiders was a really good book to read.
ReplyDeleteThe novel The Outsiders is a very interesting, page turning book that follows the story of the main character/narrator, Ponyboy. Ponyboy is in the gang called the Greasers. This gang is very poor and dirty compared to the rival gang, the Socs. There is a ton of action in this book that ranges from simple quarrelling, to "rumbles", to all-out murder. Since Ponyboy is only a young teenager, you get to see what all of this action is like from the perspective of someone young.
ReplyDeleteThis book was VERY entertaining and I never wanted to put the book down. With many twists and some unexpected action, this book is a must-read. You should read this book if you want a captivating story.
The Outsiders is a great book because it had a lot of action and emotion. There were a lot of fighting scenes and some really deep scenes when you got to know the character more. When Johnny rescued the kids from the church, Dally told them to watch out because he didnt want the kids to end up in jail at that age like he did. The gang was all a family and they stuck together no matter what. When they had a big gang fight, Ponyboy got kicked in the temple and that set Soda off. He beat that kid up so bad, the whole gang ran for the hills. I felt that there was nothing wrong with this exciting book. I would recommend this to all of my friends.
ReplyDeleteI the book outsiders ponyboy is a young kid in a gang with his brothers soda pop and darry his parents died when pony boy was young kid in a car crash In pony boy life many thing happy and he lost many friend in short time like dally and Johnny the where both close to pony boy and he miss them .and how he deals with it all read the book to find out the rest.

The Outsiders, a novel by S.E. Hinton, is a deep, action-packed book that is about two gangs living in a city in the Midwest. The two gangs, the Greasers, and the Socs, fight for no real reason on a regular basis because one is different from the other. The Greasers are underprivileged and poor, while the Socs have everything they could ever want handed to them on a silver platter for no work at all. The main character of the book, a fourteen-year old Greaser named Ponyboy, is a different sort of Greaser. He likes books and movies, and he does well in school. Ponyboy isn’t a hood at all. He doesn’t like to hurt people and only fights when he needs to. This novel is about a war between the two gangs, which gets more and more involved when Ponyboy and another, shy, Greaser named Johnny have a run in with a group of Socs because they were talking to the Socs’ girlfriends at the movies. Johnny ends up killing one of them. Ponyboy and Johnny go on the run from the cops and the Socs and end up in an old church to restart their lives. When this doesn’t work out as expected, Ponyboy returns home and Johnny ends up in the hospital in shock and with a broken back after saving some kids from a fire. The war gets more intense and many more deaths happen, as well as many friendships being created.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders gives you a feeling of what it’s like to be the odd one out in a situation that you know you can’t win. Because it’s told from the perspective of someone who is close to my age, it’s easy to relate to. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced book that requires some thought. It makes you think about how everyone is the same inside regardless of class. As it says in the book, “Everybody sees the sunset.”
The novel The Outsiders was written by S.E Hinton. The novel was about a boy named Ponyboy. In the very beginning of the novel Ponyboy got jumped by a "Soc" but got help from his brothers Darry and Soda-pop. After Ponyboy got home Darry yelled at him and Ponyboy ran away with his friend Johnny and jot jumped at the park. Ponyboy was getting drowned so Johnny stabbed the "Soc" drowning him named Bob. I think that this Novel is good because its a lot about working together as a team. For example, in the big rumble all of the greasers worked together to fight off the "Socs". Another example is that when Ponyboy and Johnny went into the burning church to save the kids, they all worked together to save the kids and each other. Another good thing about this novel is that they show the different characters personalities ans since they show those personalities, it makes the book more interesting. A bad thing about this novel is that it lacks a lot of specific detail. Another bad thing about this book is that when Cherry and Ponyboy were talking at the end, They didn't explain her very well. I was confused what her emotion was when Ponyboy said those things to her.
ReplyDeletethe action packed story the outsiders speeks to teens over generations. The Geasers are not no goood derclicts, The Outsiders invites you into understanding what it is like to be less fortunate . Teenagers of a broken home from the other side of town . Ponyboy , SodaPop and darry try to make there way in society that seems to neglect the reality that they live together parentless .Their friends somehow tske care of each other and carries each other through their troubled teenage years into adulthood .The strenth of the family they find in the greasers finds them in continuious conflicts with the other side of society . As the boys approch Adulthood the lessons they learn along the way teach boys alot about getting put of the life of a teenage gang conflict.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a heartfelt novel about ones struggle with family, friends and the socs. The socs are rich kids that beat up greasers for fun. Growing up as a greaser was hard for Ponyboy especially because his parents died. Ponyboy lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop. Instead of going to college and living his life the way he wanted to Darry got a job and took care of Ponyboy and Sodapop. Ponyboy's other older brother, Sodapop, is a high school dropout who works at a gas station. One night the socs attack Ponyboy and his friend, Johnny. Things went too far when someone pulls a switch blade and a life was taken. This novel shows you what Ponyboy was thinking and really helps you to escape into the world of socs and greasers.

The Outsiders a novel full of tension. It is about two gangs called Socs and Greasers. The Socs are more wealthy and uper-class that lives in the city. While the Greasers aren't so rich and and lives in the country side. The main character which is also the narrator is named Ponyboy Curtis. He is in the gang of the Greasers. What I'd thought about this book was that it was a bit sad for me, because Ponyboys life long friend has passed away by saving him. It must be very hard for Ponyboy because his friend Johnny had saved Ponyboy from a burning house. In the end Ponyboy has relized that the two gangs were just the same, and they're not differentat all.
ReplyDeleteThe book The Outsiders is about two gangs called the Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are the rich, upper class of the city while the Greasers are the poor, lower class. The Greasers got their nickname because their hair's are greasy. The plot involves the war between these two gangs. The war gets more involved when the protagonist Ponyboy, Two-Bit, and Dally from the Greasers, hang out with Cherry and other Socs girls which at the time they didn't know the girls were Socs. Also, when Ponyboy and Johnny commit a murder, this causes them to be on the run from the cops and the Socs. They find an old church and start their new life. The journey the Socs and the Greasers have in this war lead to many deaths, but also new friendships. I think this is a very good story. I think this because right from the start you feel empathy Ponyboy and all of the Greasers. You see how the Socs are treating them, and get right in the middle. Also, the book only gets better. If you like fast sad, action filled, adventure stories, then you will love this book.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a good book. In the beginning of the book you are introduced to two boys Johnny and Ponyboy who are really good friends. The Socs and The Greasers have always been known enemies. This book is unlike most other books ive read because it doesnt show just a happy ending, it shows the hardships and personal stuggles of this group of young boys. I really enjoyed reading this book although I wish S.E Hinton would have said why The Socs and Greasers were such big enemies.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton is a very interesting story that kept you turning the pages. The main character, Ponyboy is a Greaser and lives with his two brothers, Darry and Sodapop. His parents died in a car accident. His brothers both dropped out of school so that they could support Ponyboy, who is very smart and gets good grades. There is also an ongoing battle against the Socs (the rich kids) and greasers (the poorer kids). Ponyboy and his friend Johnny get jumped by a couple of socs. Johnny, saves Ponyboys life, but also ends up killing a Soc. Then the action starts and makes the story line so interesting. You feel what the characters feel. The Outsiders was action packed and full of drama and excitment. I enjoyed reading it.
ReplyDeleteThe book The Outsiders is a heartfelt pageturner, it is also a journey bettween two gangs The Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are the poor, lower class gang, who tend to get tortured by the Socs. The Socs on the other hand are rich and the higherclass gang who enjoy jumping the Greasers whenever possible. The main charcters Ponyboy, Darry, Johnny, Dally and Soda go through alot. Ponyboy and Johnny end up commiting murder. The help they get from Dally gets them away from the "Fuzz" (Police), and into a church far away from anyone or anything that could turn them in. While Ponyboy and Johnny are living in the church it goes on fire and they have to save the children that are in it. Ponyboy gets out okay but Johnny didnt get so lucky. He was burnt. Badly. They were heroes. They were also Fugitives. Eventully Johnny dies escaping all popsible charges against him, also making Ponyboy safe from the law. Dally shoots himself while running away from the police and his guilt. In the end Ponyboy, Soda and Darry live a good life.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is an amazing book. Compared to other books you have to read for school this has got to be the best of all time. It is about the conflict of two social classes, the Socs which are the wealthy upper class and the Greasers which are the lower class, the ones who grew up in bad neighborhoods that are not always entirely bad. When Johnny kills a Soc named Bob the whole story starts. Conflicts start between the two classes while Johnny and Ponyboy are on the run from the law. With the help of Dally they run from the law but in the end Ponyboys life gets turned upside down. He deals with death and the realization of how the Socs and the Greasers aren’t so different. He realizes that they both have problems and that not all Socs are like Bob. In the end he realizes that there is no point to the fighting between the two groups and tries to end these conflicts.
ReplyDeleteI liked how the author created a real conflict. She shows the problems between two different classes in her time period. She tries to explain with this book how the fighting is pointless and that the two groups are more alike than they think. With this book she thought she could try and stop the conflict between social classes in her time and in future years to come. I also liked how the author used lots of detail to add to the story. This showed what characters were like with this information and also added things to the story.
The book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is about two groups of people. These two types of people are called the Greasers and the Socs. The Socs are rich, and the Greasers are not poor but they are not rich. They got their name because their hair is always greasy. The socs got theyre name because it is short for social. The bad thing about these people is that they always are fighting over territories. Some of the characters are Ponyboy who is a greaser but does not fit in. Another character is Johnny who keeps the gang together because everyone likes him. Overall it was a good book and one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a great book for people who want excitment. its about a greaser named Ponyboy that has a rough life. The greasers always are getting into serious fights with the socs. The socs are also a gang that comes from a more cleaner part of town then what the greaser come from. Ponyboy's friend Johnny gets killed by a burning church by helping these little children. I feel realyy bad for Ponyboy because both of his close friend pass away. Dallly passes away from a gun shot wouned from the police. At the end of the book Ponyboy finally gets along with his older brother Darry.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is about two gangs who are in battle against each other. The gangs are the Socs and the Greasers. The Greasers are low classed and don't come from good family's. The Socs are wealthy. The Outsiders is a good book with alot of feeling and emotion.
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders is a novel about a boy named ponyboy. During the book he goes through drama and fun stuff he was very brave during the book. Johny killed a guy named bob and they go on the run. But then the church they were hidin in caught on fire with little kids in side and they savedthem then the scieling fell on johny and he died. they hadf the rumble and the greasers won and then dally robbed a store and the cops shot him down rightin front of him.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a non fiction novel that tells the story of the life of a greaser. The life of a greaser of always being in trouble, picking fights, and stealing. The have to deal with these stuck up people who think there better then the greasers just because there rich. Then Ponyboy and Johnny get into big trouble and runaway. Ponyboy has to then cope with losing the lifes of his true friends
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders was a great book, it was so realistic and it got great into the details. The book was sad in the end butit still ended great. The main character in the book was Ponyboy,Ponyboy was adverturous when he left with Johnny. The book was mostly about Ponyboy who was a greaser and got beat up alot by the socs and also had a hard life living all over the place. He had a hard life and went through alot in his life that were sad and happy moments(mostly sad).
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders was a very interesting book. It was filled with action, drama, and suspense. I personally loved this book. I found this book way better then the Pigman. I am very excited for the movie part as well (even though I saw it already). I loved the part when Johnny killed Bob that was forced to run away with Ponyboy. I enjoyed this part because from here to the end it got very intence and it made me want to keep reading untill the end and not stop. I dislike how the Socs. (The rich kids from the South side of town) think thier so much better then the Greasers. (The not as wealthy kids with long greasy hair. The Greasers are from the West side of town). I personally think that the Greasers and the Socs. are similar in different ways.
ReplyDeleteThe outsiders is about two gangs. The gangs are the greasers and the socs. The socs are rich, mean and spoiled. The greasers are poor, nicer and picked on. This book is about an on-going war between the socs and the greasers. They don't really have a reason for the war, but that doesn't matter to them. The protagonist ponyboy and his friend johnny meet these socs girls and they become friends. Then when ponyboy and johnny get jumped by these other socs they kill one of them. This makes them run away to an old church in the country. They change there looks and go into hiding. In the end almost everything works out but there is still problems to face. This book is very action packed but there is also drama. It is a very good book and I highly recomend it.
ReplyDeleteThe Outsiders is a fast-pased, entertaining novel about the rivalry between two different social classes, the Greasers and the Soc's. The Greasers are the poorer kids who are often picked on by the Soc's, a group of mean upper class rich kids. The plot progresses as Johnny and Ponyboy, two Greasers, accidentally kill the Soc Bob in self defence. Ponyboy and Johnny run away from the cops and the Soc's, living in an abandoned church for many weeks on their own. This increases the tension between the Greasers and Soc's which ends in a rumble that may cause many hurt.
ReplyDeleteWhat I enjoyed about the Outsiders is that the novel had both plenty of action and emotion. The characters are very in- and relatable. The story was told in great detail and also had an amazing plotline. The novel was also very fast paced, so it never felt like a drag when reading. All of these aspects have made the Outsiders one of my favorite novels.
the story begins when ponyboy a young teen who is a part of the greasers gang begins to have deeper problems with the sochs who are the richer meaner gang. jonny a good friend of ponyboy gets mugged by the sochs he was badly hurt he swore he would carry a switchblade just in case he needed to use it. jonny and ponnyboy were aproached by a group of sochs and bob a soch tried to drown ponyboy jonny did what he needed to do to save his friend pony and jonny were now in need of a place to hide out to avoid going to jail they were advised to go to an abandoned church were they could stay for a wile they went out for a wile came back and the church was on firejonny and pony went in to save the children pony woke up in an ambulance and the next day found out jonny was dead ponyboy needed to learn to cope with the loss of his friend
