This week, you will submit one response and comment to one other student.
For your response, you will select one character from each of our book club novels. You will write a contrast of these characters. Remember, contrast is how they are different. The contrast will be complete and will use specific details from both novels to show they ways you think the characters differ.
For the comment to another student, you will NOT say something like, "Billy, that was a really good contrast" or "I agree with Billy." You will comment in a way that shows that you are thinking about the characters, add details to support the student's point, or offer details that challenge the contrast.

Two characters that i feel are very different are Darry and John. John doesnt care much about what happens. He is a trouble maker as well (bathroom bomber). Darry on the other hand cares about nearly everything that happens to his brothers and the other greasers. Darry is very strict and can be very hard on Ponyboy. Ponyboy doesnt see it but that is how Darry shows that he cares about Ponyboy.
ReplyDeleteMr. Pignati from The Pigman and Bob from The Outsiders are two very different characters. They are different because they have two very different personalities. Mr. Pignati is calm and kind while Bob is rough and tough. For example, Mr. Pignati's idea of a good time is going to the zoo and playing with BoBo the monkey. He even went to the zoo with two kids he barely knew. He is a very kind person. Bob's idea of a good time is going out on the streets trying to hurt greasers and get girls. In one scene he almost killed Ponyboy. These characters have the opposite personalities and this is why they contrast.
ReplyDeleteDarry and John are way different.Darry is strict, yells and is very strong.John loves to have fun and there is no limit to how much fun he can have.Darry doesnt need fun in his life, he just needs something to live for.
ReplyDeleteMr. Pignati from The Pigman and Dally from The Outsiders are two very different characters. They both are different kind of people because they have two distinctive personalities. For example, Dally's concept of having fun is going to bars and having a drink. On the other hand a concept of having fun is a game that you pick random words and make a story out of the words. Both of these characters have different thoughts and that was why they contrast.
ReplyDeleteJohn from The Pigman and Ponyboy from The Outsiders are two very different characters. Ponyboy is a more responsible person. He also likes to read. John on the other hand is like a trouble-maker. He likes to start trouble and doesn't really care much. That is how John and Ponyboy are two very different characters.
ReplyDeleteMatt Gugliemo, I liked how you described Darry as very strict. Because in The Outsiders, he really cared because when Ponyboy walked into the house late at night, Darry was really upset and he bosses Ponyboy around. Also in the end of The Outsiders, Ponyboy does understand that Darry really does care about Ponyboy and does love him.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt. Darry from The Outsiders and John from The Pigman are very different characters. Although Darry is tough and strong, he really is a very compassionate guy. As Matt stated he cares for his brothers and acts as their father. Darry is also very responsible. John is not responsible. He was the bathroom bomber and he even scammed Mr. Pignati out of ten dollars. Another time John showed he wasn't kind like Darry, is when he, Lorraine, and The Pigman were at the store. John let Mr. Pignati spend a lot of money on him and he didn't even care.
ReplyDeleteMr. Pignati and Johnny are totally different in many ways. For starters, Mr. Pignati is very happy and carefree almost all the time. He loves pigs and is very generous. Johnny, on the other hand, fits Ponyboy's description of being a "Scared puppy who had been kicked too many times", which means that he is not at all carefree. Johnny is afraid of getting jumped, which means he is unsettled and jumpy, unlike Mr. Pignati.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that are different are Mr. Pignati and Dally. One reason they are different is that one is afraid to have fun and the other isn't. Also, they are different because one only cares about himself and the other one cares only about everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Danny because John and Darry are different. I think that because they both care about loved ones, but they both have their own ways of showing it. Also, Tehy are different because one is still in school and the other isn't.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cassie. Mr.Pignati and Dally are two very different characters. Mr.Pignati loves going to the zoo and makes life as happy as possible while Dally is always out on the streets, getting into fights and rumbles. Mr.Pignati tries to find the best in people while Dally tries to find the worst in people (besides Johnny).
ReplyDeleteJohnny and Loraine are different becase lorraine doesnt like cigarettes while Johnny and the other greaseres do. Johnny is very scared of the socs because he had a violent past with them. Lorraine on the other hand is very reckless. At the store Mr Pignati bought something for Lorraine and she was uncomfortable with that but johnny would have let any one buy him something.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Danny Rambo because hes right, Darry doesnt care what happens but john is a party animal.
ReplyDeletetwo characters that i feel are different are Mr.pigntai and ponyboy. i think ponyboy is different from Mr. pigntai because ponyboy doesn't have a lot of money and Mr. pigntai does. also Mr. pigntai inst involved in gangs or fighting and ponyboy is. another reason is ponyboy is more negative when thinking about things as for Mr. pigntai thinks things from a positive side.
ReplyDeletei agree with Noah. Mr. pigntai inst like bob. he is like totally opposite for these reasons bob gets drunk and almost kills people as for me. pignati goes to zoos and talks to monkeys.
ReplyDeleteJohnnycake from The Outsiders is different from Johnny in the Pigman. Johnnycake is quiet and very shy, as to where Johnny is a smart-a-lack kid who is very...very...confident(can´t remember the other "c" word). Though they both smoke, Johnnycake doesn´t drink and have wild parties. Plus, Johnny gets along with mostly everyone, and Johnnycake only gets along with other greasers and the ladies...Soc-ladies. So, I have three different reasons were Johnnycake from the Outsideres and Johnny from the Pigman are unsimilar.
ReplyDeleteMr.Pignati and Bob are very different characters from thier personalities, to the way they act, and treat others. One way Mr. Pignati is different from Bob is how he treats others, he treats them with respect, and like he's known you for he's entire life. An excample of this is how when Mr. Pignati meets Lourriane and John he invites them into he's house, invites them to the zoo, and buys them all these things.Bob treats others differently depending if thier wealthy, or poor. Bob treats the wealthy with respect, but with the poor he treats them like dirt, and pushes them around. An excample of this is when him and a bunch og his friends go out to beat up Johnny, Ponyboy, also known as the poor.
ReplyDeleteAnother way Mr.Pignati and Bob are different is by thier personalities. Mr. Pignati is a sweet kind old man. An excample of this is how nice he treats Lourriane and John when he barely even knows them. Bob is more of the tough guy kinda person who takes most things seriously. An excample of this is how Bob treats the poor like Ponyboy, Johnny, and all thier friends. These two reasons and these two excamples show that Mr.Pignati and Bob and different in many ways that describe thier position in the book.

Two characters I feel are very different are Mr. Pignati from the PigMan and Ponyboy from the Outsiders. They are different because Ponyboy has a family that loves him and people that wanna hang out with him but he doesn't really have that much money. Mr. Pignati on the other hand has no one to love or care for him just some porcelen pigs that his dead wife bought for him and other pigs he bought for himself. Mr.Pignati was also quite wealthy. Whenever John and Lorraine would go some where he would insist that he bough the this or that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily Hermes because mostly what he said is true but Johnny is carefree until he's sees a blue mustang or fancy car then he gets jumpy and not carefree.
ReplyDeleteI dont agree with Emily Hermes because what she said about Johnny isn't true. He is care free until somthing bad's about to happen, like when a fancy car or blue mustang comes roaring around the corner.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I feel are diffrent are John from the Pigman and Johnny from the outsiders because John is more outgoing and not afraid to voice his opinion and Johnny is more quiet and he never really tells the gang what he thinks.
ReplyDeleteTwo charcacters I think are differnt are Lorraine and Ponyboy, because even though they are both smart Ponyboy has a family that love him. Yes Lorraine has a mother and Ponyboy doesnt but his brothers, Soda and Darry care about him. Lorraines mother rarely says a word to her.
ReplyDeleteJulia I agree with you Mr. pignanti and ponyboy are completly differnt Mr. pignanti had a wife and is in like his 70's and has a monkey named bobo and ponyboy has long hair is in his teen years and is in a gang.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I agree with you I also think Ponyboy has a better family then Mr. Pignati, but i dont think he was wealthy i think he just wanted them to like him, because my grandpa didnt have much money but insisted he buy me something, just like Mr. Pignati.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that are different are John form the Pigman and Ponyboy from the Outsiders. John is more of a trouble maker and doesn’t really care about school. Ponyboy loves school and is really smart and he is usually is quiet. Also another thing that makes these two characters different is that John doesn’t follow anyone he has his own ways. Ponyboy showed he’s follows people sometimes when he was with Johnny and Ponyboy goes with Johnny sometimes I think Ponyboy does follow people.
ReplyDeleteTwo Characters I feel are not similar at all are Ponyboy and Jonny, both characters are from the novel "The Outsiders". How these characters are different is that Ponyboy doesnt have parents and Jonny has parents. Another reason how they are not similar is Ponyboy would never kill someone, Jonny killed Bobby at the park. Another example how Jonny and Ponyboy are different is Ponyboy has people who care about him (Ex: Ponyboys brothers) Jonny has knowone who cares about him except the gang "Greasers".
ReplyDelete-Mychala Conti (:<3
The charters I’m contrasting are Mr.Pignati and Ponyboy. Some of their differences are that Mr.Pignati is old and Ponyboy is young. Mr.Pignati is dead and Ponyboy is alive and that Ponyboy is in a gang and Mr.Pignati is not and a gang.
ReplyDelete-Michael McKay
Matt I agree with Dorthy Darry is not strict he is just very over protected of his brothers. He wants the best for them.
ReplyDeleteCherry from The Outsiders and Lorraine from The Pigman are different. Lorraine is not outgoing and is afraid of a lot of things. She has a lot of phobias like for example: if she is watching tv and people are laughing in some show, she thinks they are laughing at her. Cherry is more outgoing. She is more adventurous. She isn't afraid of Johnny or Ponyboy, or really anyone in the gang. She is also the spy for the greasers. (The Socs and Greasers are having all out warfare because of Johnny Stabbing one of the Socs(Bob)
ReplyDelete-Nicole Pieta :]
Two characters from the the two novels I think are different are Dally and Lorainne. Dally is the trouble maker of the book and Lorraine is the shy and insucure one of the book. That is how the two are different.
ReplyDeleteMr.Pignati and Dally are different because they handle there problems for example Dally handles his problem by being mean and harsh. On the other hand he is nice.
ReplyDeleteCassie-
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Dally and Mr.pignati are different, you could also say that Dally and Mr.Pignati’s attitudes, and Dally is tough and is always going to jail. Mr.Pignati on the other hand is a kind old man who likes to have fun and give to people. Also you could have said that Dally is poor and his family is like his friends in the gang; Mr.pignati has some money but has no family and before John and Lorraine came didn’t have many friends.
I agree with Sarah Nine because everything Sarah wrote for her blog was correct, Sarah wrote Ponyboy and Mr. Pignati are very different because Ponyboy has a family that loves him and people that wanna hang out with him but he doesn't really have that much money. Mr. Pignati on the other hand has no one to love or care for him just some porcelen pigs that his dead wife bought for him and other pigs he bought for himself. Mr.Pignati was also quite wealthy.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Tristin Krueger because Loraine is shy (not reckless) and so is Johnny.
-Mychala Conti
I agree with tristin but I wouldn`t charecterize loraine as reckless.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Samantha,
ReplyDeleteBob and Mr.Pignati are TOTALLY different. Bob is a teenager you gets drunk like everyday and he always jumps greasers. Also he always is looking for a fight. On the other hand Mr.Pignati is old and is lonley. His only friends are John,Lorraine, and Bobo the monkey from the zoo that he visits pretty much everyday. His wife died years ago and he has no one to hang out or talk to while John and Lorraine are at school.
-Nicole Pieta :]
The two characters that I think are different are Mr.Pignati and Dally. I say that because Mr.Pignati is very calm and relaxed. Dally is very strict and caring to his friends and family.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I think are different from the books are John and Darry. These characters both have many differences. Some deiffererences are that Darry is a young hardworking guy.Mr.Pignati is older and is retired. They are also different because is in a gang and Mr.Pignati is just a a sweet old man.Darry has rules that have to be obeyed while the pigman just has fun whenever he can.One other thing ios that Darry is a lot more poorer than the pigman.I know this because Dary struggles to make ends meet while the Pigman is out buying Lorraine and John things. All these thing show me that they have contrast.
ReplyDeleteMichael your response could make sense but you should really only comment on what we should be up to in the book.In your comment you said that mr.Pignati died which some of us might not know yet because we have not read past.
ReplyDeleteThe two characters that are different is Mr. Pignati and Dally. Mr. Pignati is more of a weird, lonley, and old, but soft feeling and kind. Dally is more of demanding and strict and doesn't take no for an answer. These two character both differ in their personaltity.
ReplyDeleteMr.Pignati from the Pigman is completely different from Johnny's father from The Outsiders. Mr.Pignati is a sweet, lonely, old man who really cares for John and Lorraine. His idea of a good time is going to the zoo, drinking wine, telling jokes, and going roller-skating. Mr. Pignati is really outgoing and makes sure everybody has a good time.
ReplyDeleteJohnny's father on the other hand is a horrible person. He does not care about anybody but himself. Also, he's a bitter drunk. Furthermore, he beats up his own son when he's in a foul mood. It is obvoius that the Pigman and Johnny's father are two completely different people who have nothing in common.
Two characters that I think are different are John from Pigman and Ponyboy from the Outsiders. John is a bad kid he plays pranks drinks smokes a lot and he doesn’t care for mostly anyone and he doesn’t care about school and curses and gets into trouble all the time. Ponyboy is nice and he barley smokes and drinks, he does well in school and tries not to get in trouble a lot, and he cares for people and he doent curse.
ReplyDeleteJohn i agree about what u said about the difference between Mr.Pignati and Jonny's father. Jonny's father is really mean but hes really strict and Mr.pignati hes lonly and sad so he not going to be really mad a lot.
ReplyDeleteMr.Pignati from the pigman and dally from the outsiders are different because Mr.Pignati is nice and caring. Dally from The Outsiders is mean and doesnt really care about anything. Thats why they arent alike.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you mychala, because ponyboy and johny arent alike. I agree with that Ponyboy would never kill anyone.
ReplyDeleteJohn from the Pigman is very difrent from Dally from The Outsiders. These characters contrast because John is a bad boy, for example he likes to hang around the cemitary and expecially loves to drink. John is also the "bathroom boomer", and doesnt care about school. Dally on the otherhand is caring for Ponyboy because he is the oldest one of the house, he is like the father. Another example is when Dally saw Ponyboy for the first time in a week at the hospital and cried, this tells me that Dally really cares about his little brother. John is more of the party type and Dally is more strict because he is the oldest. This is why these two characters contrast.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Puccio in my response i meant to say Dally every time that I said Darry. Should i re-do my response?
ReplyDeleteJohn from the Pigman and Dally from The Outsiders are two very difrent characters, this means they contrast. John is the bad kid in school. For example he goes to the cemitary all the time to smoke and drink. John is also the "bathroom boomer" and doesn't care how he does in school. On the otherhand Dally is more protective. For example Dally doesn't go party and he is always waching what Ponyboy does. Another example was when Darry saw Ponyboy for the first time in about a week and he started cring. This shows me that Darry cares. John and Darry contrast because John doesnt care about anything and Darry does care about his family and the money that he makes.
ReplyDeleteSORRY MRS.PUCCIO THIS IS THE RESPONCE I WANT TO USE.
Sarah Nine I agree with you very much because Mr.Pignati and Ponyboy are very difrent. You made a very good point about how Ponyboy has a family who loves him. But i don't know if Ponyboy always loves his family because he doesn't have a mom or a dad just Sodapop and Dally. You also state a fact how Ponyboy doesn't have to much money but I dont know if that would affect him because he is a greaser. If Ponyboy did have lots of money then he would possibly be a soc.
ReplyDeleteJohn- I agree with you that Mr. Pignati is completely different from Johnny’s father. I’d like to add that Mr. Pignati is a forgiving person, while Johnny’s father is clearly not. Mr. Pignati would also never dream of hurting anyone, while Johnny’s father beats him up regularly. Johnny’s father dislikes his own child, but if Mr. Pignati were Johnny’s father, he’d have everything he could ever want.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I feel are very different are Johnny and John. Johnny is shy and afraid, while John is outgoing and fearless. Johnny tries to stay out of trouble. On the other hand, John is a trouble-maker. For example, Johnny doesn’t talk much for fear of saying the wrong thing. Conversely, John, during his freshman year of high school, put bombs in the boy’s bathroom just for fun. These characters have completely different personalities and that is why they contrast.
ReplyDeleteJohn I agree with you.Johnny's father and Pignati are uniquely different. Plus, the fact that no one else has used this example, yours is the better for sure.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Sarah Nine I think Ponyboy and Mr. Pignati are more similar than they are different. Ponyboy has parents that love him and friends that really care for him. Then Mr. Pignati has a wife that loved him, and Lourriane and John that really care for him. But the only difference between them is the fact that Mr. Pignati has a lot of money, and Ponyboy is very poor, but other than that they're not that much different. I think Mr. Pignati and Bob have more things to contrast then Mr. Pignati and Ponyboy.
ReplyDelete-Samantha Carter-
Erik, I disagree with your character contrast. First of all, both characters really want to enjoy themselves. They just have fun in different ways. Mr.Pignati goes to the zoo, eats nice foods, tells riddles and jokes, and spends time with his friends. Dally, on the other hand, smokes, drinks, goes to rodeos, shoplifts, and gets into fights for enjoyment. As juvenile as these actions are (with the exception of rodeos), Dally still enjoys himself.
ReplyDeleteAlso, both characters care for other people. Mr.Pignati buys a lot of things for John and Lorraine. Mr.Pignati also tells John and Lorraine to make themselves at home when they visit his house. Dally, as tough and hardened as he is, cares for other people as well. When Johnny and Ponyboy were on the run, he helped them find a place to stay, gave them money, and checked up on them to make sure they were okay. He even bought them dinner as well! Dally is not a selfish person. He's hardened and tough on the outside, but deep down he's a good person, like Mr. Pignati.
Erika I agree with you the two character are diffrent but I think you could of inucluded a little more detale
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that are different to me are Johnny and John. Johnny is like your "sweet little brother" that is smart and who listens to you well. John is the opposite, he's not a good boy. He is the type who is rebellious and not caring. All John want is money.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I agree with you that Johnny and John are different. Johnny is shy and John is a trouble maker. Johnny wouldn't even put a bomb in the boy's bathroom even if he was dare to.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that are very different are Cherry and Lorraine. Cherry likes to go out and go to movies and have a boyfriend, but Lorraine doesn't have a boyfriend and only really goes out if it involves something with Mr. Pignati. Also, Cherry, according to Ponyboy, is very pretty whereas Lorraine is plain and boring. Another thing is that Lorraine would never just walk home with two boys she met at a movie theater, like Cherry did, so Lorraine isn't as carefree as Cherry.
ReplyDeleteAmy - I agree with you because John and Johnny are nothing alike. Another detail to back that up would be that Johnny listens and doesn't really talk, but John always comments on everything.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I think are different are Ponyboy and John from The Pigman. I think they are different because Ponyboy is very serious, and likes movies and reading books. He is very different than most people in his greaser gang. Another reason why Ponyboy and John are different is because John likes to fool around and do mischievous things. for example, John was the bathroom bomber and put bombs in the bathroom. Another example is that John would pretend he is someone else in front of certain people. Ponyboy would never do that. His gang is very close and they don't keep many secrets from each other.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cassie, Mr. Pignati and Dally are EXTREMELY different. They have completely different personalities. For example, Mr . Pignati likes to be around people and Dally likes to fool around and be immature.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 characters I want to contrast are : Dally from The Outsiders and John's Mother. Dally is Messy,Smokes,Drinks, and doesnt really care about everything. Johns Mother on the other hand is a Neat Freak, has some manners and cares about some things.
ReplyDelete~TYHASIAH BELL~
I agree with Kayla because Mr.Pignati and Dally are very different from each other. Mr.Pignati likes everybody and evrything at times. Dally on the other hand is very strict and a little bit mean to the people that care for him.
ReplyDelete~TYHASIAH BELL~
Mr. Pignati from The Pigman and Bob are very different from each other. Mr. Pignati is loving and caring toward others. Bob is showing that he doesn't care about other peoples feelings. One scene from The Pigman when Mr. Pignati showed that he was caring was when he let John and Lorraine into his house and gave them wine. One scene from The Outsiders when Bob showed that he doesn't care was when he tried to drown Ponyboy for no reason. So as you can see, both characters are very different from each other.
ReplyDeleteNoah, I agree. Mr. Pignati and Bob are both very different characters. But each came from different worlds. Mr. Pignati lives in a nice and calm neighborhood. While Bob came from the streets where there were always fights. This difference affected their personalities and this is most likely why they are different.
ReplyDeleteMr. Pignati in "The Pigman" and Dally in the "The Outsiders" are completely different character. Mr. Pignati is a very kind person in general, while Dally on the otherside is very tough and also "tuff". For example, Mr. Pignati is always kind to John and Lorraine, and always thinks on the bright side. For Dally, he is really mean and always wants to do things that is breaking the law. But Dally still has a kind heart.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I agree with you because I also think that Mr. Pignati and John's dad is different too. John's dad doesn't care for Johnny and don't treat him like his son, while Mr. Pignati treats John and Lorraine just like his son and daughter. This is what I think about them.
ReplyDeleteThe two characters that I think are very different from eachother are Dally from the outsiders and Mr.Pignati from The Pigman. I think this because Dally is much of a loner because her doesn't get alongs with everyone very well. Dally went to jail before which changed him alot causing him to get "Hardened". Also Dally is young. In his late teens or early 20s. Mr.Pignati on the other hand is old. probly in his late 60s or early 70s. Although Mr.Pignati is old he is always happy when he is around John and Lorraine. He is always trying to force out a smile and is very honest, kind, and caring towards John and Loraine.
ReplyDeleteMichael what you said is true but Mr.Pignati and Ponyboy are kind of the same. They are nice and care about themselvs as well as others. They care about others by when Ponyboy and Johnny got into a fight. Johnny killed someon and they both ran off. Ponyboy stayed with Johnny and they made sure they had eachothers backs. Mr.Pignati buys things for John and Lorrain that they didn't even ask for but they want. Also he invites John and Lorrain to his house alot and lets them feel like there at home.
ReplyDeleteKayla I agree with you but, you could have added more detail to it and have said what examples make them different. Also in your response you could have put their attitudes in their too.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I think are different in many ways are Darry from The Outsiders and Mr.Pignatti from The Pigman. First off, Darry is responsible towards Soda and Ponyboy and although Ponyboy doesn't realize it at first, everything Darry says or does is just to protect them. Although Mr.Pignatti does care about John and Lorraine he acts more like a child around them than a responsible adult figure, like when he rollerblades with them. Another thing that makes Mr.Pignatti and Darry different is that Mr.Pignatti would never get into a fight or hurt anyone intentionally. While as Darry is willing to do whatever it takes to protect himself and the gang.
ReplyDelete-Kim Guthrie
Amy,
ReplyDeleteAlthough you prove a strong point I disagree with your contrast. You would think that John and Johnny are different, although neither of them wants a fight but they will do anything to prevent themselves from getting hurt. Towards the end of The Pigman you find out that John really does care about Lorraine and Mr.Pignatti so he's not exactly the tough guy he wants to appear to be just like Johnny.
-Kim Guthrie
John I agree with you about Mr. Pignati and Johnny’s father. They’re nothing alike. Mr. Pignati is so nice while Johnny’s dad doesn’t give a crap about his son. Johnny’s father isn’t necessarily a bitter drunk though. There isn’t any part in the story that describes him as this. (I don’t think I haven’t finished the book yet). It also doesn’t say that Johnny’s dad only cares about himself it just says his dad doesn’t care about Johnny.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I feel are different are Ponyboy and John. They are different because even though they both have similar living environments they have way different personalities. Ponyboy is thoughtful and enjoys school. He gets good grades and loves to get involved in story lines. John on the other hand is a delinquent. He drinks, smokes and honestly doesn’t care what people think of him. Compared to John Ponyboy seems like an angel. Honestly Ponyboy could be just like a Soc if it weren’t for his living environment.
ReplyDeleteJohn is fun and outgoing where as Johnny is fearful and shy making him quiet while John is loud. Because John is more confident with himself hes able to be outgoing, which sometimes gets him in trouble, which is different from Johnny because hes not as confident so he sits back quiet while other people do things.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amy Methven because I also felt that Johnny and John were too very different characters.
ReplyDeleteMr. Pignati from The Pigman and Bob from The Outsiders are two different characters. They are different because they have two different personalities. Mr.Pignati is calm and kind while Bob is rough and tough. Mr. Pignati's idea of a good time is going to the zoo. Mr.Pignati also brought Lorraine and John to the zoo when he barley knows them. Bob's idea of a good time is going out and trying to hurt greasers and get girls. These characters have the different personalities and this is why they contrast.
ReplyDeleteTow characters that I think are diferent are Darry from The Outsiders and Mr. Pignati from the pigman. I think they are different beacause darry is somewhat strict with ponyboy by not leting have certain privaliges and Mr. pignati doesn't really care about what John and Lorraine
ReplyDeletedo. In one part of The Outsiders, Darry yells at Ponyboy for coming home after 12:00. In one part of the Pigman mr. Pignati buys everyone roller skates and they ride them through the house.
I agree with Kaity Talmage because Ponyboy and John have two different personalities. Ponyboy is more calmer then the greasers and John is foolish.
ReplyDeleteI aggree with Jeremy about ponyboy and john being different. I think this because ponyboy always says that he is the smart one of the gang and he says that he enjoys reading and going to school. Meanwhlie John's parents are always saying he should be like his older brother who is a business man.
ReplyDeleteJulia I agree with you. I think the age difference between Mr.Pignati and Ponyboy is what makes the difference. Ponyboy reacts before thinking, while Mr. Pignati being older thinks things out first.
ReplyDeleteMichael McKay
The two characters that I think are different are John from "The Pigman" and Sodapop from "The Outsiders". They are different from each other becouse John did whatever he wanted to do and Soda helped people overcome challenges. For example, John smokes, drinks, and makes bombs, he's pretty bad. But Sodapop always is nice to people, helps people with their problems by telling them what's right or wrong, and always cared for his brothers, even after his parents death. Another difference between Soda and John is that Soda dropped out of school to care for his brothers and John is still in school but always gets into trouble.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeremy because just because John and Ponyboy live in the same kind of envirnment it doesn't mean that they have the same kind of personality. And Ponyboy always gets good grades in school and John wastes his life with alcohol and cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amy because John and Johnny are different. Thats because Johnny doesn't like being in things but John does. Johns not afrid to do anything. He used to do bathroom bombers and never get caught and he kept doing it.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters who I think are different are Dally from the Outsiders and Mr.Pignati from the Pigman. Dally is tough, mean, rebelious, and has alot of hatred. He is shown alot of times picking fights and stealing things. Mr. Pignati is a very different character. Mr. Pignati is a optimistic, happy old man who loves kids and would never hurt a thing. Mr. Pignati is always smiling and does many kind things for John and Louraine such as buying them stuff at the department store. As you can tell Dally and Mr. Pignati are very different
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt that John and Darry is very different because John doesn't care if he gets in trouble and Darry cares about what happeneds to everybody elese.
ReplyDeleteAmy I do not completly agree with you that John and Johnny contrast. Even though John and Johnny have different personalities, both John and Johnny have abusive fathers who are mean to them. Also both John and Johnny cope with their anger in a similar way. Both John and Johnny drink and smoke, and go hang out with their friends in times of need.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I think contrast are Lorraine and two-bit. Lorraine is smart and has a big vocabulary which she uses. Two-bit however doesnt hav a great vocabulary. Also lorraine can be very serious and responsible, but Two-bit is always cracking jokes and lauphing about everything.
ReplyDeleteNicky I agree Dally and Mr.Pignati are very different. Dally is mean and "hard" whereas Mr.Pignati is nice and always trying to make others happy.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I think are different are Darry from The Outsiders, and John from The Pigman.Darry is different from John because Darry is very strict and John does pretty much whatever he feels like doing. Also John feels free, and Darry he sticks to a routine.
ReplyDeleteDorothy, I also agree with you that John and Ponyboy are different characters.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I think are different are Ponyboy and John. Ponyboy likes books, movies, and he gets good grades in school. John doesnt really care about school, for example he skipped school most of the time to see Mr. Pignati. Also John doesnt care about school becuase he pulled many pranks such as setting off firecrackers in the bathroom and rolling apples on the floor. Another way they are different is that Ponyboy likes watching sunsets, and John could care less. He would rather have a party or go smoke or pull pranks on people. Ponyboy is a nicer and better person than John.
ReplyDeletePonyboy and john ae badf but in different ways. Ponyboy really isnt a bad kid nhes jst caught up with the wrong people. John is a bad kid he is the only one who he hangs out with who is like this. John has parents and pony doesnt.
ReplyDeletecomment;hey jeremy i really dont think that pony is like an angel compared to john because pony was involved in a murder john wasnt and pony is involved in gangs and john isnt.
I agree with Shannon. I think that Lorraine and Cherry are very different in many ways. Lorraine doesnt have very much self confidence and she kind of is shy. Cherry has a boyfriend, and she isnt afraid of hanging out with the greasers, Lorraine probably wouldnt of risked that.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I think are very different are Darry, and Mr. Pignati. These two characters differ because they come from two different world, and hendle different situations. They are different because Mr. Pignati is loving, caring, nice, fun all around, old, and funny. Darry on the other hand is the complete oppisite. Darry is boring, mean, rude, not caring, and is obessessed with work. They are also different because Mr. Pignati is collects pigs, and Darry is in a gang. I pick these two characters because they are totally different people.
ReplyDeleteArdis I disagree with you. In my opinion Dally was caring, maybe not as much as Mr. Pignati but he was caring. Dally picked up Johnny and Ponyboy to get them some lunch when they were starving, and save Ponyboy from burning, which showed he was caring.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I feel are very diiferent are Johnny and John. Johnny doesnt say or do much and John is more outgoing and likes to get inot trouble. For example, Johnny is responsible yet is shy while John puts bombs in the bathrooms and talks and likes to tthrow parties.
ReplyDeleteKim, I agree with your response. Darry does care about the gang and Mr. Pinganti cares about John and Lorraine. Although Darry does want the gang to be safe, I dont think he would get into a fight intentionally. He might, however, break up a fight then fight off the other person fighting.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I feel are different from each other are ponyboy and John, because ponyboy isn't as couragous as John. Ponyboys parents died and johns parents don't really care for him. John likes to so what he wants and doesn't care what anybody thinks of him and ponyboy is nice and cleancut. Ponyboy doesn't seem like he should be living the way he should be living but I think John should be living in the area that ponyboy lives in because John doesn't really have a life.( no afense lol)
ReplyDeleteJeremy, I totally agree with you because John acts kinda like a soc because he likes to get drunk all the time and so does all of the socs. Ponyboy should be treated better because he does act like angel compared to John. :D
ReplyDeleteTwo characters I feel are very different are john from the Pigman and Darry from the Outsiders. I think their very different is because john smokes and drinks, Darry is against that. Darry is strict and mean, very tense and under pressure trying to take of his brothers. John is relaxed, calm, and not so tensed up.
ReplyDeleteThe mother from "mother to son" is similar to dally but in the end unlike the mother dally gave up and that is why he robbed the store and got shot by the cops because he felt he had no hope with out johnny.
ReplyDeleteDally and Darry are some what total opposites because Darry is calmer mainly because he plays such a big part when it comes down to be mature do to the fact he lost both his parents and is taking care of his two brothers.Dally is wild and annonymous because he is irresponsible and childish but very dangerous and young. They both have lots of problems but I would say they are different.
ReplyDeletePonyboy is the youngest and probably the most different one compared to the rest of the greasers.Because he is lost in life with no guide. He thinks Darry hates him even though Darry doesn't.Ponyboy is all on his own with no one in his age group and no one in his catagory of similarities.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kadijah when she says “John is fun and outgoing where as Johnny is fearful and shy.” Because its true. Johnny is very shy and scared of many things, such as the socs and when people scare him. And I also agree that john is loud and fun and stuff.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that I think are very different are Darry and John. I think they are very different because John doesn't really care about alot of the things he does or the things that the people around him do but Darry tries to get all te people around him to do the right things.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeremy John and Ponyboy have very different personalities. Although I wouldn't quite call John a delinquent he is alot worse then Ponyboy. Also what Jeremy said about their living enviroments is true
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amy because John and Johnny have very different personalities.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that are different from eachother is John from The Pigman and Johnny from The Outsiders. There different because John is a trouble maker, and very outgoing and loud. While Johnny is shy and he doesnt really get into trouble.
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that i think are very different is Dally and Mr.Pignati because Mr.Pignati is calm and kind hearted and Dally is a the type of person that dosen't care about is life because he with a gang.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jeremy because John and Ponyboy are totally different accept for the fact they life in similar environments.
ReplyDeletei believe Darry and John are way different. John is a happy go lucky guy. He seems to not work and drink and stuff like that. Darry on the other hand works and has to be strict and has to have absolute self control. As you can see John really is a disobideant teen. Darry is a responsible adult and it seems he only has fun at the rumble.
ReplyDeletei agree with Matt G. he is right. John doesnt seem to care, goes with the flow right? and Darry cares alot about everything as if he carries the world on his shoulders
ReplyDeleteTwo characters that i think are different are Darry and Mr Pignati. They are different because Mr Pignati is a loving, kind, and funny guy. and Darry is all about work, he's mean and he is in a gang.
ReplyDeleteElise i totally agree with you. Dally and the pigman are both different because Dally is mean and tough and the pigman is kind.
